The UPS-owned company launches its new buy-online, return-in-store (BORIS) solution at 300 Forever 21 stores nationwide.

Reverse logistics specialist Happy Returns has launched its new buy-online, return-in-store (BORIS) solution, partnering with e-commerce giant Shein and retailer Forever 21.

Customers can now return online purchases from Shein at over 300 Forever 21 retail locations across the United States. This box-free and label-free return is aimed to make online returns as easy as possible for the customer.

Happy Returns, which was acquired by UPS last year from PayPal, continues to expand its innovative solutions. David Sobie, Happy Returns CEO, discussed his company's evolution: “Over the past eight years, we've developed cross-brand box-free returns from an innovative idea to an enterprise-grade solution. Now we're leveraging our technology, expertise, and scale in reverse logistics to be the first to enable retailers to seamlessly accept returns throughout their full networks.”

The process for Shein customers is straightforward and convenient. Shoppers will generate a QR code through Shein’s returns portal, which can then be scanned at participating Forever 21 stores. A store associate will verify the items, and as an additional benefit, customers will receive a same-day discount on a Forever 21 purchase.

Happy Returns will manage the reverse logistics, directing the returned item to the best location—whether that's staying in-store, moving to another store within the network, or being sent back to an e-commerce warehouse.”

This partnership not only addresses the growing demand for more flexible return options for online purchases but also enhances the shopping experience by integrating digital and physical retail solutions.

For Shein, which recently announced plans to make its supply chain infrastructure and technology available to other brands, it's another step toward increased customer satisfaction.

“We are always looking for new ways to optimize the shopping experience for Shein customers — from speedier delivery to easy returns,” said George Chiao, president of Shein U.S. “Happy Returns has pioneered a seamless, simple returns model and we are excited to launch this offering across hundreds of Forever 21 stores across the country.”
