Sorter offers servo-based electric divert switch option

Sorter offers servo-based electric divert switch option A new electric divert switch using servo technology is now offered for ProSort 400 shoe sorters, in addition to the standard, pneumatic operated divert switch. Both systems use vibration dampeners to reduce noise and vibration, while a radiused switch gate divert path prevents impact points. Smart prox technology precisely times switch gate operation as it starts or stops diverting. The mechanical portions of the switches pivot with the flow of the sorter and provide a complete guide path for the divert shoes in both the divert position and the non-divert position. The pneumatic switch can run at speeds of more than 600 feet per minute, while the electric switch delivers higher speeds at lower noise levels. Its servo motor links to the divert gate through a cam operator to prevent shaft load and bearing wear for long service life.
