In a press conference on Tuesday, Marceline Absil, VP of sales and marketing at topVOX (Booth 3674) presented the new Lydia VoiceWear vest to be worn by voice-directed pickers.

The portable, wearable system features integrated loudspeakers and microphone. With the vest, all the wires and components are housed within the material and connected directly to a pouch in the back where the battery pack and computerized system reside.

“All technical components for voice-activated picking are in a lightweight and comfortable vest, without any wires to get in the way of work,” explained Absil. “We have customers who don’t necessarily want the connecting cables hanging loose because their workers find they get in the way—yet they don’t want to invest in a Bluetooth wireless solution either.”

The vest comes in a range of colors, including standard safety yellow, safety orange and gray, she added.
