A new automatic guided vehicle uses a laser guidance system to follow a pre-determined smart tape imprinted with a series of QR codes. The tape can be easily repositioned to accommodate production and movement changes. For safety, the vehicle incorporates an emergency stop strip along both sides that can be activated by kicking the rubber; flashing yellow lights to indicate which direction it is moving; and a motion sensor that halts its movement upon detection of something in its path. The vehicle also features an advanced system of airbags and wheels at the center of the unit allow it to lift and spin 360 degrees when required, a brushless DC servo-driven motor for low maintenance, and the ability to carry up to 12,000 pounds.
