Modularly constructed AGV enables reconfiguration of vehicles Engineered with a standard tractor base unit, a line of modular AGVs can be reconfigured and adapted for a variety of applications, including forklift, tow/tugger and unit load handling with a roller deck. The tractor component houses a drive unit, casters, controls, wiring controllers, power and drive module (and associated peripherals), diagnostics, laser or magnetic spot navigation hardware, radio-frequency communication and a hand-held controller. An existing tractor unit can be converted from one load handling style to another by using the wiring harness and updating the vehicle’s software—instead of purchasing a new vehicle.
