The GateKeeper mezzanine safety gate dual reciprocating barrier by Rite-Hite makes elevated platform loading and unloading safer by creating a controlled access area in which the inner gate and outer gate cannot be opened at the same time.
Engineered with a link bar that ensures that both gates always work in unison, when the outer gate opens to allow pallets to enter the mezzanine, the inner gate automatically closes to keep workers out. After the pallet is received, mezzanine-level workers open the inner gate to remove material from the work zone while the outer gate closes to secure the leading edge of the platform.
Constructed from heavy-duty steel and aluminum, the device features a raised toe board to prevent materials from accidentally being pushed off the elevated edge. A fully automatic version is also offered.

Safety regulations are in place to mitigate the inherent risks workers face in a warehouse or other industrial facility.
- OSHA standard 1910.28(b)(1) requires that employers must provide fall protection for personnel on walking-working surfaces 4’0” (1200 mm) or more above the lower level.
- The ANSI 2009 standard section 6.4.3 published by the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association reads “any gate that provides an access opening through the guards for the purpose of loading and unloading material onto a work platform shall be designed such that the elevated surface is protected by guards at all times. Gates that swing open, slide open, or lift out leaving an unprotected opening in the guarding are not acceptable.”
