By using a custom UVC light fixture, which is integrated with a mobile robot base, a robotic system can disinfect surfaces while also neutralizing aerosolized forms of Covid-19, enabling usage in factory environments. With no requirement for human supervision, the system is considered safe, despite its use of UVC light.
It uses a UVC array for disinfection, rather than a telepresence top; this array uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light, which not only kills microorganisms, but also interrupts their DNA, by a process known as ultraviolet germicidal irradiation.
Able to travel at a speed of roughly 0.22 mph, the robotic system can cover 4,000-square-foot spaces in half an hour, as it neutralizes nearly 90% of coronaviruses on the spaces’ surfaces.
