Created for extra-large packages that weigh up to 175 pounds and are up to 9 feet long, the GENI-Flex Modular Solution Irregular Sorter can sort irregularly shaped packages, including carpet rolls, 5-gallon buckets and tires, along with items like kitchen sinks.

Heavy duty and gentle, the sorter offers an automated system that eliminates the need for manual labor (and the physical and operational issues associated with it), as employees will no longer need to handle oversized packages.

Featuring a self-contained “pop-up” divert module, the sorter has two high-friction transfer belts, which rise to gently divert packages toward an elected takeaway module. Once products have to pass over the divert module, the transfer belts will lower, as a powered roller solution is then used to carry items across each transfer belt.

With two high-friction belts, the GENI-Flex™ pop-up divert module raises to divert standard and oversized packages towards the system’s elected takeaway module. The divert belts remain lowered, to enable packages to pass over the divert and proceed along the main conveyor channel. Powered SEW rollers interspaced with the divert belts enable the new modular design to be self-contained without an externally driven powered roller and its child. This self-contained system virtually eliminates the burdensome maintenance requirements of traditional rollers and band systems. The powered 90-degree takeaway module minimizes manual labor by diverting oversize packages directly to the shipping center’s dock doors. A more energy-efficient option, the gravity 90-degree takeaway module, can divert packages without consuming electricity.

The GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution is the first and only automated sortation system for irregular and oversized items. Fives designed the GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution for packages that are extra-large and oddly shaped, and therefore considered non-conveyable on traditional sorters. The heavy duty, yet gentle GENI-Flex sorter is optimized for packages up to 79.4 kg (175 lbs.) and 2.74 m (9 ft.) in length. It has a proven ability to handle the most extensive range of products in the industry, including five-gallon buckets, tires, carpet rolls and more.
