Command driven measurement device that uses calibrated product information and laser distance sensors to validate/count the number of products in a channel

The PUMA is a command driven measurement device that uses calibrated product information and laser distance sensors to validate/count the number of products in a channel. When a product is introduced to the A-frame for the first time, it needs to be set-up using the A-frame user interface.

Details like product name and barcode are entered manually or sent over via the product interface.  After the product is known, it needs to be calibrated.

This is required to overcome the fact that the effective product height of the lower products will be decreased by the weight of the products on top of them. This calibration requires the operator to load a number of products in a channel (directed by the A-Frame software).  During this loading process, the PUMA measures the stack height. The data obtained is used during the normal operating process to check the product quantity in each shaft. This calibration only has to be done once per product as the product can be relocated to different channels and the calibration data will be copied to that channel.

Key Product Capabilities

  • The PUMA device calculates the height and the number of products in each channel via a laser distance sensor.  This ensures that replenishment of products has been done correctly and can also help with tracking batches.
  • With the registration of video images at the end of the A-frame and a light detection system at the ejection points, errors in picking are eliminated.
  • The A-frame is able to process up to 1,200 orders per hour with the use of a double filling station at the end.

Company Product Description

The A-Frame is a fully automatic solution for quickly processing complex orders. This proven technology is used in pharmaceutical distribution, among other things. Inther Group is the only Dutch logistics system integrator to market the A-Frame.

Ideal for high volume orders
The A-Frame guarantees the highest possible productivity and an optimal material flow, even at peak loads. It performs optimally with high volume orders that consist of small, fast moving items that have similar packaging. Examples include, pharmacy boxes, cosmetics, tobacco and small office supplies. The A-Frame from Inther is distinguished by its high level of flexibility. The product channels are adjustable so that two columns of smaller packages can fit in one dispenser. Intelligent ejectors ensure a fully automatic, safe and error free processing of products. A sensor also calculates the height and thus the number of articles in the column, with the addition of a measured ‘indentation percentage’. This is an additional quality check that monitors the status of the items. This ensures that the warehouse staff are properly and optimally replenishing the A-Frame when needed. Therefore, the number of processing errors remains low and the output increases.
