By using intelligent sensor solutions, users can enhance mobile and stationary robotic applications. LiDAR-LOC software enables automatic guided vehicles, carts and robots to maintain tracking guidance even if they don’t have magnetic or optical-guide tape.
In the past, the loss of tracking guidance led to unplanned vehicle stops and occasional fleet jams. To eliminate this issue, the software uses the 2D measurement data of surroundings that have been attained by safety laser scanners that are typically already present on onboard vehicles, primarily as electro-sensitive protective devices.
The software’s 2D LiDAR localization system reduces the likelihood of faulty magnetic or optical track guidance tapes. Overall productivity, along with throughputs, increase, as a result of the reduction in faulty tapes.
The LiDAR-LOC is a localization solution for all autonomously moving mobile platforms. It uses LiDAR sensor data and links it with information from other sensors as needed. This is how the LiDAR-LOC achieves accurate and reliable localization results based on natural contours – environmental adjustments are not necessary. Integrating the solution into an existing infrastructure and putting it into operation is easy.
The LiDAR-LOC is available as a modular software solution that runs on SICK AppSpace-certified as well as various third-party controllers. This means the LiDAR-LOC is the optimal starting point for the development of vehicle navigation.
