RFID system controls VNA lift truck navigation

RFID system controls VNA lift truck navigation To increase efficiency and productivity in narrow-aisle applications, a forklift-based warehouse navigation system uses transponder RFID technology to control the supplier’s rail- or wire-guided very narrow aisle lift trucks. Transponders placed in the facility floor at specific distances communicate with a RFID reader/writer in the truck to identify aisle locations and distances. Combined with the forklift’s height measuring capability, the system knows its location within the aisles and can be programmed to reach specific pallet positions. By automatically selecting the most efficient combination of travel and lifting, the system boosts productivity by up to 25%. The device can also be integrated with an existing WMS for seamless transmission of orders to the operator’s RF terminal.
