Sapient Automation: Viper vertical lift module

Sapient Automation’s Viper vertical lift module offers a new automatic tray height scanning system and tray configuration to provide more than 50% more storage density.

Every time a tray is retrieved, the scanner automatically determines each tray’s exact storage height requirement to a 1-inch increment. Based upon that information, the machine’s control system determines the optimum storage position in the unit based on pre-set parameters for optimizing space and retrieval time.

For increased storage capacity, the trays have thinner side walls. Flat tray bottoms eliminate the need for liners, while no tray dividers or support cross members are included, allowing for storage of larger, oversize items in excess of 13 feet.
