On Wednesday, during Industry Night, the winners of the fourth-annual MHI Innovation Awards will be announced. That gives attendees plenty of time to drop by the booths of the 12 finalists in the three categories—Best New Innovation, Best Innovation of an Existing Product and (new this year) Best IT Innovation—to check out the entries.

“We received 95 total entries spread between the three categories—an increase from 84 entrants at Modex 2016. It’s clear evidence that Modex exhibitors are dedicated to continuous improvement of the industry that makes supply chains work,” said Greg Baer, director of sales for show sponsor MHI.

Prior to the show, the submissions were judged by a committee of industry experts to narrow down each category to four finalists. On Monday, those finalists’ exhibits were visited in person by the judging panel, with the winners selected in each category, Baer added.

• Balyo (Booth 3147c) – Self-Guided Truck
• Fetch Robotics (Booth 4087) – Robot & Follow Pick
• Iam Robotics (Booth 4071) – Swift-Autonomous Picking
• UNEX Manufacturing (Booth 2047) – Pick Plank

Finalists in the “Best Innovation of an Existing Product” category are:

• Joloda International (Booth 4039) – Trailerskate 2.0

Finalists in the “Best IT Innovation” category are:

• RAM Mounting Systems (Booth 2734) – IntelliSkin & GDS Technology
• SOTI (Booth 4970) – MobiControl
• Warehouse Mobile Solutions (Booth 2122) – Warehouse OS

The contest defines innovation as a new product, product line, technology or service, new application of existing products or technology, that creates quantifiable and sustainable results in terms of return on investment (ROI), cost savings and customer satisfaction.

Modex 2016 is scheduled to be held April 4-7, 2016 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex coverage.
