Ryson Spirals are an efficient way to transport loads vertically. They offer beneficial space savings in warehousing and ecommerce operations.

Vertical Conveying is an essential component to product flow and automation in multi-level warehousing and pick modules.

E-commerce, cold storage and the automotive parts business is exploding currently, and the increasing demand for Ryson Spirals is reflective of that. Their ability to induct or divert units at intermediate levels is also making them invaluable for pick modules for all kinds of industries.

The Ryson High-Capacity Spirals are perfect for these kinds of applications because they can handle the weight demands of sectors like automotive parts.

They can also be configured for freezer operations, as Cold Storage and Grocery e-commerce segments are quickly taking orders from Ryson.

Efficient

They are very reliable and efficient conveyors. They can reach heights of up to 40 feet and require only one drive. This reduces power consumption, controls, installation and integration demands. They can also start and stop fully loaded because of the proprietary rolling friction design of their chain-slat arrangement.

Customizable

Each spiral is custom built to the application requirements. They are also completely modular making future modifications simple and cost effective.

Several slat widths are available, ranging from 6 inches wide to 36 inches. They also reliably convey items of different sizes without needing change parts or adjustments. This makes them ideal for a pick module or other order fulfillment operations.

The load capacity for these Spirals is 75 lbs. per linear foot of conveyor for speeds up to 200 FPM. The total weight capacity in the spiral at any one time is 3600 lbs. The Ryson High-Capacity Spirals are available in powder coated carbon steel, stainless steel, hybrid and freezer versions.

Space Saving

At the same time that e-commerce has taken off, real estate has gotten more expensive. So the practical solution is to build vertically. Warehouses and distribution centers are getting higher and higher. The use of spiral conveyors for vertical conveying is critical in this small footprint, higher elevations scenario. This is a growing segment for Ryson and for good reason.

With the rise of micro-fulfillment and warehouses geared toward e-commerce, new system designs and applications turned to spiral conveyors to help fulfill the need to save on space, keeping up with throughput while maintaining the integrity of the products.

Ryson has written a white paper on this topic and we would like to share it with you. You can also check out our Video on why Ryson Spirals are ideally suited to the e-commerce and warehousing markets.
