SSI SCHAEFER Company Profile

Sorter supports efficient batch picking processes

Reliable and efficient, the Batch Pick ‘N Scan sorter supports batch pick processes with a fully automatic control system that sorts items into customer orders. The system includes four areas each dedicated to a specific task. At the in-feed station, an operator places the products on the V-shaped belt conveyor. After the products are separated, they are transported through a camera-based, six-sided scan machine. Gathered information is processed and analyzed before each product is transported to a linear distributor synchronized with the sorter. Depending on the data and allocation to the final destination, a distributor table transports the products to the sorter, which transfers them to order totes or cartons at the respective destinations. Performing at rates up to 4,500 pieces per hour, the system can be used for goods-in, returns and order sortation. Equipped with integrated scanner that reads 1D and 2D bar codes, the solution ensures error-free picking, generates parts lists and packing slips, and enables lot and serial number tracking.
