CEMA says orders during 2022 increased 9.0% compared to 2021, and forecasts similar increase for 2023

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association, Inc. (CEMA), recently estimated that overall industry orders (bookings) for 2022 increased 9.0% compared to the same period in 2021, with total orders of $19.8 Billion.

For industry billed sales (shipments) in 2022, CEMA estimates they increased 7.6% compared to the same period in 2021, with total shipments of $21.7 Billion. CEMA also estimates that Unit Handling orders were up 10.8% in 2022, while Unit Handling shipments were up 9.3% compared to the same period in 2021.

In the Bulk Conveying sector, CEMA estimates orders were up 7.7% and shipments were up 6.6% from 2021.  

CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in nine classes of Unit Handling equipment and four classes of Bulk Handling equipment. 

Outgoing CEMA President Andy Felter announced the results at the Association’s 90th Annual Meeting held in March at The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The executives of CEMA member companies in attendance at the 2023 Annual Meeting expressed optimism for the year ahead.  As a result, CEMA forecasts that industry shipments will be up 9.0% in 2023 over 2022 shipments.
