Leveraging Intel technology for logistics, the new Connected Freight solution from Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions gives logistics companies the ability to monitor shipments of high-value and perishable goods to prevent damage and loss.

The system provides real-time information about the location and condition of freight while in transit. Cloud-based, it offers detailed analytics to plan, anticipate and react to incidents that occur during shipment, such as theft, damage, spoilage and delays. Included are sensor tags affixed to pallets or individual packages that detect a range of environmental conditions, such as temperature or vibration.

Sensor data is captured by a mobile gateway placed inside a truck or shipping container and then transmitted over cellular networks to the Cloud-based command-and-control platform. Alerts can be based on temperature, shock, tilt, humidity, pressure and intrusion detection.
