Deflection-free plastic AS/RS tote showcased by Flexcon at ProMat 2017

Flexcon Container (Booth S2412) has developed a new tote for automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) in a 600 x 400-millimeter (23.6 x 15.7-inch) footprint. The tote is made of a proprietary plastic formula and a unique ribbing structure resists deflection.

“Our automated storage customers have been asking for this for a long time,” said Ken Beckerman, president, “because eliminating deflection—or the bowing of the bottom of the tote—allows the AS/RS to operate faster. The machine doesn’t have to adjust to accommodate the deflection dimension, and totes can be stored closer together.”

That produces faster operation and up to 20% greater storage space efficiency within the machine, he added, noting that each tote holds up to 100 pounds. Additionally, it has a non-slip bottom that minimizes noise in mechanical transport and can be sub-divided internally to create up to eight separate cells. “We’ll be starting to fill pre-orders for more than 50,000 of these totes shortly after ProMat,” Beckerman added.

Additionally, Flexcon is highlighting a pallet with a lip made of upgraded materials for longer lifespan, and its durable X-Corr material for use in low-run quantity AS/RS totes of 10,000 or fewer.
